Profile of Bangalore International Airport Limited

Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), the owner and operator of the new Bengaluru International Airport, is a public limited company, registered under the Indian Companies Act. BIAL is committed to establishing the new Bengaluru International Airport as India’s leading airport in terms of quality and efficiency and set a benchmark for the future commercial development of Indian airports. The airport is built and operated on par with international standards.  Since the airport opened in 24th May 2008, the airport has welcomed the introduction of six new international carriers into Bangalore making new destinations directly accessible to air travelers. These include Dragon Air, Tiger Airways, China Air, Oman Air, Air Mauritius and most recently Kingfisher Airlines London and Jet Airways to New York via Brussels. In addition, the cargo facilities at the Bengaluru International Airport is used by domestic freighters apart from six international freighters which include Singapore, Lufthansa, Qatar, Etihad, Sri-Lankan Cargo, Air India and Emirates.

Ø      Mumbai Airport Developers Private Limited  (a wholly owned subsidiary of GVK Power & Infrastructure Limited), India          :           29%

Ø      Karnataka State Industrial Investment & Development Corporation Limited, India                                                                     :           13%

Ø      Airports Authority of India, India                                                                                                                                               :           13%

 



 

 

Selection of the cargo handlers:

Bangalore International Airport Limited conducted an open tender process and selected its strategic partners for the new Bangalore International Airport cargo operations. The consortia that have been selected are:

Ø              M/s.Air India and Singapore Air Terminal Services Group

Ø              M/s.Menzies Aviation and Bobba Group.

 

The selected consortia which were approved by the Board of BIAL have entered into agreements with BIAL to build, operate and transfer the cargo warehouse for a period of 15 years.

 

Profile of the cargo handlers:

M/s.Menzies Aviation Bobba (Bangalore) Private Limited is a Joint Venture Company formed and promoted by M/s.Bobba Aviation Private Limited, Bangalore (51%) and M/s.Menzies Aviation Plc., Edinborough, U.K (49%)

 

M/s.Air India SATS, is a Joint Venture Company with Air India holding 50% of the shares and M/s.Singapore Airport Terminal Services Limited holding 50% of the shares.
